We have missed publishing our hints and tips to our SL community.

This month’s ezine is the restarting our education and training efforts.  Needless to say, creating new ezine articles is a time consuming effort; but nevertheless still a valuable effort since the proper training and education of end users can bring many years of extended service to this great product.

SL, or Solomon as I like to refer to it, is a great middle market product.  Whether you are focused on core financials (Gl, Ar, or AP) you will be continuously surprised at the power of the FRx financial report writer and its sister products.   The analytical power of the newest BIO tool, with its OLAP predefined cubes, creates out of the box analysis capabilities which previously were only available for the upper tier market users like SAP and Peoplesoft.   Now you have Olap analysis, which I like to call Excel pivot tables on steroids, which allow great insight to ‘what are the numbers telling me about my business.’  (http://www.microsoft.com/dynamics/sl/product/businessportal.mspx )

For our wholesale distributors, our tool sets are amazing.  From new modules like inventory replenishment, landed cost, to EDI capabilities, to robust order management taking options, you have the foundation for greatly improving your management of the distribution process.  In fact, in my opinion, many of the light manufacturing firms are looking more and more like distributors as they move away from in-house manufacturing to outsource manufacturing and doing only final test in-house.   With this shift in the basic needs as a manufacturing software, the managing of PO’s for sub contractors makes your operation look more like a distributor’s operation.  Most recently we got a new module which integrates with your purchasing module called Requisition.  This module allows creation of requisitions for product or services needed which work flow process for approving the requisition, and strong integration into you SL purchasing module. Solomon has been deemed the premier software in the Microsoft Dynamics line for project oriented businesses. Whether you are a specialty contractor, residential track or customer contractor, a software developer, a biotech research firm, you have been blessed with the great module family of SL Project controller.  http://www.systematicsol.com/Solomon_modules.htm

The entire Microsoft Dynamics family of products has been growing in their web portal capabilities.  If you haven’t looked at what the BusinessPortal can do to share critical business information via a web site, you will be amazed. http://www.systematicsol.com/sol_business_portal.pdf

Whether you want to only have intra or inter connectivity via a web browser, the BusinessPortal software has expanded through 3 releases, and is truly amazing.  At around $50/named user, you can quickly capitalize on self service of business information which can really make your organization run more effectively.

As you can see, we believe that the Dynamics SL solutions are fantastic for both today’s and tomorrows business needs and reporting solutions.   We look forward to working with many of our readers as you “fine tune” your SL software to change with your business and the needs of your business.

Regards,

PS.  With wish to thank the author Alan Earls for his journalism skills as he has used eight of our ezine articles as the basis of hints and tips on better using Solomon.  These articles were published in the Microsoft Momentum magazine and Momentum community of online articles.
