Just as the Gregorian calendar has need to made corrections known as leap days and leap years, your Solomon software also is periodically in need of service pack updates and version upgrades. It time to start planning for support to be stoped for version 5.0 of Solomon IV.
The official end for technical support is September 30, 2004 for version 5.0 and August 31, 2006 for version 5.5.
So anyone who is running version 5.0 or earlier on Solomon, it is time to upgrade. Many of our clients already own unlocking keys for version 5.5, but have not upgraded yet. We strongly recommend everyone to upgrade, so that in the event of a “major problem” with your Solomon, we can get technical support for you. Check with your VAR for a cost estimate on this task. For straight forward upgrades from version 5.0 to 5.5 we find that 1 day is typically adequate.
This issue of our ezine provides a mini training event around these articles: 1) Public news groups for Solomon, 2) Importing into Solomon with Transaction Import, and 3) Using the save setting on exit feature.
Next month in Orlando, Florida at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention center is the Microsoft Business Solutions Convergence conference. This is an end user conference for all back office product lines, including Solomon. The event is March 21st to 24th.
