Welcome to this month's edition of our ezine. Keeping it Simple with Solomon is free training, educational newsletter for the Solomon Software community. Our newsletter is very different from the typical Microsoft Business Solutions (MBS) ezine. We focus on writing about hints, tips and tricks in using Solomon.

This month, MBS held its annual users conference called Convergence. We can expect version 6.0 of Solomon to show up in early summer. A new user interface, which looks a lot like excel and word will replace the old menu structure for Solomon. New versions of the Business Portal will be showing up as well as more integration of Solomon Accounts Receivable and Order Management info with Microsoft CRM.

It is gratifying to get help with articles for this newsletter. This month we had three guest writers: Kevin Hartman (Systematic Solutions), Duke Swenson (Systematic Solutions) and Ryan Wetherhead (Accounting System Integrators). Thanks to our guest writers. Topics covered this month include:

    *A new 3 rd Party budget building tool for Accounting System Integrators

    *Tips and tricks for handling pop up ads and internet viruses

    *Printing Solomon reports to multiple printers

    *SQL transaction logs—a potential hazard in the brewing

    *Creating a report of ranked customers sales volume

    * Frx Safety and Sorting

I see the continued merging of Solomon and Microsoft products being a good thing. It will become easier to integrate the two product series. Learning curves will be lower, because of the commonality between the programs, and overall cost of ownership should be less. I look for continued movement in this direction with version 6.0, 7.0 and 8.0 of Solomon.

At Systematic Solutions we are constantly looking for new ways to use technology for lowering your cost. We are doing more and more remote support and remote 2 hour training classes. With most companies having high speed internet connections, we find doing remote support when we can see your desktop really a great tool. Similarly, we can deliver training classes at lower costs by sharing our computer screen with students using Webex, Microsoft Live Meeting, and GoToAssist (formerly Desktop Streaming).

Keep us in mind if you have needs in the support or training areas.

Looking ahead to future issues of this ezine, and we are excited sharing some success stories.  Stories about our team performing basic system reviews and accounting process reviews and being successful in shorting month end closing cycles down to 3 days from 15 days.  Sometimes it just takes a new set of eyes to see solutions to old problems.   Our consulting team has over 60 years of cumulative  work experience with Solomon.  We get to see how hundreds of end users have used Solomon in creative way.   Taping into this experience and the sharing of successful solutions is what our company and this newsletter is all about.
