Editorial:
Today as the world news reports about the local Iranians
toppling statutes of Saddam Hussein
in Iraq, it is
exciting to turn my attention to the future.
I am hopeful that the United States
and the world can start to focus less about the nows and more upon the tomorrows.
At the recent customer convergence conference, the new
version 5.5 of Solomon was demonstrated. Three key things to look forward with the
new version of Solomon is (a) stronger integration of Solomon data into
Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel through smart
tags and (b) stronger integration of Web access to Solomon data for remote
inquiries remote updates, and remote reports through the Business Portal, and c) expanded integration of Solomon working
with new Microsoft products: Project
2002 Enterprise version and Microsoft Customer Relations Manager (CRM) software.
We will be examining these two features over the next few
months. I expect the Solomon
IV version 5.5 to be
shipping in the early summer timeframe.
All current customers who are on support plans and are currently running
Ms Sql
versions of Solomon will be receiving these
updates.
Solomon is your traditional
work horse; once installed it just runs and runs. Some of clients, consequently, have taken the
attitude that if it works, never updates it.
We are finding customers who also are not upgrading and updating there
accounting computers. The result is that
these customers are now faced with the same dilemma as the auto repair man….. Pay
me now or pay me later. Computers and accounting
software are both old and out of date. That later time period is here of
all users who are running on versions of Solomon which are earlier than
Solomon version 4.5x (see you menu choice under Help--- Help about Solomon to
verify which version you are running.).
The obsolete dates for older products, which are no longer being
supported by Microsoft/ Solomon, are:
Solomon III--- no support
since June 2002; Solomon IV
version 4.2x and earlier: no support after April 2003, and Solomon
Iv version 2.0x : no support
after August 2003
Converting your company’s historical accounting data,
keeping upgrade costs to a minimal and assisting in a smooth transition to the
newest version of Solomon are key goals for our company. If we can assist you in this area, give us a
call.
You are invited to our quarterly Solomon
User group.
We are holding our next session on April 23rd from 9am to noon. The sessions will be held at Microsoft’s Mountain
View site. Call
