Welcome to our monthly newsletter for Solomon users and resellers.  Our theme is to share ideas with the Solomon crowd so that they can become more proficient with the software.

During the month of August we are going to take some vacation time off, so this will be a combined July / August ezine.  Keep in mind as you deal with the summer heat and summer staff vacations, that there several reminders I want to pass on:  1) All users for the Solomon version 2.06 are facing a dealine next month for no more support from Microsoft and 2) don’t go through another budget build cycle with first evaluating  the power add on module FRX forecaster (http://www.frxsoftware.com ).

This month I have focused on these key areas:

1) Using the Accounts Receivable feature called recurring invoices and provide a teaching session on this topic.  In addition, we address the challenge of handling deferred revenue, which many of our customers face with their maintenance and service contracts.

2) Creating a test or practice copy of your live database.   As we moved into the Ms sql world, the steps for creating a test database got more involved.  This article will walk you through setting up a test or practice database.

3) The reseller community understands the power and flexibility available through the customization manager module.  Unfortunately, many customers, don’t really understand this hidden asset of their Solomon software.  This article illustrates by example the adding of Visual Basic event code to have a button be placed on the AR invoice screen, which allows directly and quickly printing a copy of the invoice.  Hopefully people will start thinking, I wonder if I can easily get Solomon to do ___________?

4) We are looking for training ideas for our upcoming User group.  Send in your ideas and win a prize, if your ideas are used for the next meeting.

Oh, by the way, we are always looking for feedback on ezine topics and your feedback on the articles.  Do you find the articles helpful? How could we make the articles more user friendly?

5) We have a second article on Microsoft CRM.  This article helps users understand how Microsoft CRM goes well beyond your typically Sales Force Automation software.  What this really means is that your staff can become more efficient because of the power of creating and applying your business practices and business rules in an automated fashion.  The end results, in the eyes of your customers, are that your sales people look more professional, and so does your company.
