HAPPY HALLOWEEN
Editorial:
The newest SOLOMON version has been officially released. It is called version 6.0. This past month I received some excellent training on the new product as part of the Solomon Road show. The features which I think you will really like are:
1) The new user interface, which mirrors the explorer look in office products. Each user can create a favorite’s list of screens and reports which allow faster access and more productivity.
2) The new business portal gives us more capabilities for web access for users, vendors, or customers, to allow our clients to lower support calls into the accounting area. Create a customized web page with the portal customized to the viewer. Drill back into the online Solomon info for all key modules.
3) Continued excellent enhancements in the FRX product; especially as it relates to more options to transfer data.
4) For Order management users, there is a new feature which allows creating a single consolidated invoice/ shipper from multiple shippers. This will be helpful for customers who want the convenience of one bill to bay for many pickups or deliveries.
5) With the powerful customization manager module, we now have the option to create customizations for groups of people. This will make it easier to roll out unique customizations to the sales department, not as before individual users in the sales department.
6) There is a new Solomon module which works with the Business portal web displays. This module is called Key Performance Indicators. This is the tool the CEO and CFO need to get a one page display of critical company data. The Key indicators are based on visual display, green/red buttons, and powerful alerts to what is happening in the business at a glance. Great for keeping in touch with the financial health of your company, at a glance.
For all companies who have an active support plan, there .net assurances guarantee kicks in. The version 6.0 will be available to you at no cost for the software upgrade. Because the SP 2 for XP operating system, caused delays of several months for the Solomon 6.0 release, the dates for final technical support for Solomon IV version 5.0 have been slide out until November 30, 2004. Support for version 5.5 remains at June 30, 2006.
Why are these dates critical? Simply put, as good as we are in supporting Solomon; we rely on the Support group when we get stumped. Your accounting software is mission critical. You wouldn’t consider doing business without business insurance, because we all have to be prepared for the unexpected emergency. In the same way, not having tech support is “fool hardy” and “dangerous”. The cost to start up again, the lost of historical reference information will always be greater that the cost of the annual support contract. But purchasing new versions of Solomon as part of your annual support does no good unless you install the software and upgrades. Check now to see if you when your coverage stops, or has stopped for Solomon products. Check out this link: http://support.microsoft.com/gp/lifebizsol
Oh by the way, in 2004 the Federal Government is changing W2 and 1099 forms? Those clients who are under a support contract and on a support version will get revised Crystal reports for these new forms. Typically we see these new forms come out in the fourth quarter of the year. Let up install or at least be a support for your install efforts.
We sell Deluxe Business forms, as part of our Var relationship with Microsoft. Deluxe offers us a small commission for our referral business. Let us pass on this discount for your year end 1099 or W2 forms. Give us a call for a quote at 866 – 455 9876. At Systematic Solutions we believe in sharing and keeping the costs to our clients as low as possible.
Bye for now…..
