Speed up your tasks with Solomon IV Function Keys

Using the Function Keys within Solomon:

F1: For Solomon IV Help

This key will call up the general help screen for the area which is active in Solomon.  If only the Solomon toolbar is active, then the F1 key brings up this general help information:

You can navigate the links to lower levels of help assistance.

If you are in a data entry area, such as Accounts Payables’ Voucher and Adjustments screen, then F1 key brings up the screen specific help text, as shown below:

F2: To edit the text field

This function key is especially useful in the form view mode whenever you are correcting a text field, such as a description field which had a miss-spelling of a key word.  Use the F4 key to toggle from the spreadsheet to the form view, and then select the field you want to edit then hit the F2 key to go into edit mode on this field.  Correct your misspellings and leave the field to go to another field, which saves your changes.  In general you are set to the edit in a type over mode, not a character insert mode.

F3: to look up possible values for a field or access a calendar for a date

This is probably the most used function key in Solomon.  The F3 key opens the lookup windows of possible values or the calendar date screen, if you are on a date field when you hit F3. (Note:  there are ways your Var can change the sort order of the data presented with a F3 lookup.  The basic sort options are ascending or descending sort orders.)

F4: Toggle between form and grid view

When you are in a spreadsheet section of a data entry form, such as the bottom section of a Journal transaction entry screen, you can toggle back and form between form view and grid view with the F4 key.  The illustrations below show these two options:

Spreadsheet format:

Form view mode:

In the form view mode, you see all fields for one line on the spreadsheet mode.

Data entry can be made in either the grid view o the form view mode.
