Public news groups

There is a new area for end users to seek free support.  This is the newly created news group for Solomon, which is the site I will be discussing in this article.

One of the ways you can access this information is to launch into internet explorer and navigate to this site:

http://support.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp

Next in the left hand panel, click on the area called: Microsoft Business Solutions

Next select from the sub list, Solomon

Your will be navigated to this area:

Another option for accessing the news groups is to add in the news group reader to your Outlook Express or Microsoft Office Outlook. 

One of the advantages of using this product is the content from the newsgroup can be downloaded and viewed offline.

Connect to the newsgroup directly; you will need to reference this news server:   msnews.microsoft.com 

After connecting to the correct news server (ie msnews.microsoft.com ) you will see a list of news group which you can subscribe in the left panel.   The Solomon newsgroup is called:   Microsoft.public.solomon

As a public form for Solomon I find it intriguing that there are many old versions of Solomon still in use.  There is a search feature for this news group which can be helpful if you are research prior dialogs on a topic already discussed.

Over time I suspect this area will become more and more valuable to end users.   As a side note, there is a similar newsgroup for authorized resellers and implementers of Solomon.  Please contact me if you need instructions about this private area.
